Do food prices seem even higher than usual?

There was a wall street journal article where the CEOs literally were quoted saying this. Not sure why its not mentioned in every news story about prices.

Because then republicans could not run on inflation amok due to Democrat policies. News and media are 100% skewed to conservatives.

At Food Lion 8 pack of hot dog buns were all $3.50 or higher. They did not have Food Lion brand in stock, seeing that almost every time at stores now, the lower price point brands are "out of stock".

This is not for profiteering purposes, as the brand names are lower profit for grocery stores. They rent shelf space to brands, and make profit off of their store brand products.

Biden should copy Nixon and punish corporate price gougers.

Corporate donors spent massively to lobby Congress against bills seeking to stop price gouging. Support for the bills was tiny in comparison. That's a key reason why inflation was not stopped! Inflation was profitable.

Updated it in 2022, entire cost went up 37%

Embedding the video because its a clear look at how things changed. Meanwhile I brought this up in 2021 and many people said 'well eat more vegetables'. Well, guess what?

Jeez, as limited as that $10 budget grocery shopping trip was in 2019... a 2022 shopping trip for $10 at Aldis is significantly less food. It's basically potatoes and bread.

And some of her items seemed really cheap! Eggs for 1.60? I was just at Pricerite ( a less fancy aldi where you can buy a 50lb bag of rice) and the cheapest eggs were 3.89.

I wish I had a done screenshot bc last week Aldi put out their new flyer.

They had cookie dough advertised at $3.19 at their stores in Alexandria and Falls church/Skyline but it was advertised at $2.48 at their stores in Fairfax and Springfield.

Then there was media attention on corporations making record profits and using inflation and the economy to justify higher prices.

I checked the ad flyer again this weekend on the Aldi site and wouldn't you know, the cookie dough in Alexandria and Falls church stores are now advertised at $2.48. And they announced some nonsense claim that they are "rolling" back their prices of like 10 items to 2019 prices while raising the prices of the remaining of hundreds of items in the store.

This is jsut one example of one item in one store. So pretty much yes, grocery stores are price gouging even more in the Washington DC metro area bc they can. And yes, you are definitely paying even more.
