They do and they don’t. Remember, most of the Republicans who post on here are so burnt out on propaganda that they don’t understand anything anymore. And those who do understand don’t want us to focus on the fact that this is a long time coming/a long time overdue and that this could be for any of a dozen different crimes. This ain’t a witch hunt, boys. It’s the slow wheels of justice turning. |
It's so cute, the way people earnestly blather nonsense. As if they're trying to convince someone, anyone, maybe even themselves... |
Correct. They should not prosecute this “crime” precisely because he is a former president and prospective front runner. Because everyone knows that any prosecution is not actually about enforcing the Presidential Records Act, it is instead a pure power play. And power plays are returned in kind by the other side. This is exactly how civil wars start. |
Illegal handling of classified documents and espionage, particularly with the Kremlin.
But the GOP is totally ok with it. |
Do you understand that there needs to be clear evidence of crimes to get a federal search warrant on anyone, particularly a former President who’s constantly blathering about running again? |
Continue with your delusions. You backed a criminal. He's been a crook his entire life and perhaps now, the chickens are coming home to roost. |
So any President can commit any crime whatsoever because investigating them could cause a civil war? That’s a recipe for a banana republic. |
Congratulations on waking from your coma that started on January 6, 2021. Let us fill you in on what you missed. |
Yes, and do you understand that we have thousands of laws in this country and that prosecutors could find a violation to prosecute anyone they want? Literally anyone. Do you really think that the *reason* the FBI is going after him is solely because they are worried about the “Presidential Records Act”? This is really, really dangerous stuff. |
Do you not remember Nixon? That didn’t lead to civil war. |
Do you think that there, just maybe, is a spectrum of criminal violations and that, if so, that records retention rules might be on the “not so important” end of that spectrum? Honest question, if the next GOP president decides to audit every prominent Democrat and then charge many of them with tax code violations, would you think that would be ok? Do you see how prosecuting trump could set a precedent that could lead to things like that? Honest question. |
I must admit that I don’t understand what is dangerous about finding evidence of a crime, asking a judge for a warrant, and then executing the warrant. That happens multiple times a day, every day, in this country. |
Nixon was not charged with anything and he voluntarily resigned. |
Do you realize the head of the FBI was appointed by Trump? |
There’s actually a law against politically targeting people for IRS audits. That’s another one he may be suspected of breaking. |
