Does your occasional care sitter have a cancelation policy?

Good for you! Babysitters count on the money and probably turned down other jobs to accept yours.

I am personal trainer. I charge 50% of the fee if the cancellation is less than 24 hours. This is stated up front, and no client has ever had a problem with it.

Yup. A good babysitter probably turned down other jobs and other plans to watch your kids. They were counting on that money even if you all get the sniffles and cancel. You would pay a venue you booked even if you cancelled the party. And no one would give you a 50 pct discount that close to the date
