Feel like I’m walking uphill through mud every day

My daycare has insane rules about banning the kids and I feel like I need to keep mine in a bubble bc if they sniffle I’m out for days. Meanwhile I tried switching to a nanny and she kept thinking she had xovid and was out for testing. I know I’m not alone but I wanted to chime in and say Op is not alone and parents can’t win.

This is a great point, I’m one of the people who said go out but I’m a SAHM. My friends who work and rely on daycare are having such a rough time. It’s completely reasonable to isolate aggressively if you’re trying to keep your daycare open. I hope you can schedule a zoom happy hour or something to get to socialize a little. I find cousin zooms are great too if you have a large family.

Who NEEDS to go out to dinner and the movies?’! This is truly laughable. The Me-Me-Me Generation of Parents strikes again.

Umm do you know anything about how children were raised in previous generations? If anything this generation is way too kid centric. Also, this is the infants and toddlers thread. STFU boomer. You created this mess.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure previous generations did not go to bars and movies if there was a possibility of infecting their babies with a virus.

And I’m only 29, angry little person, but try again.

Precisely the ones whining on DCUM about how onerous their lives have now become.

Wow I personally know several people suffering through long covid symptoms and some probably will for the rest of their lives. Stop living under a rock and mislead people.

I hate boomers but later generations are on the edge too (good intentions bad ideas).

Dinner and the movies will not solve the tedium and physical labor of raising little kids, especially during a time like this. Where you never know when school might be closed for weeks at a time and you’ll be juggling your children and your demanding job. Where every little illness requires a drive to a test facility so that your child can return to school. You’re so lucky if this hasn’t been your reality.

The poster wasn’t a Boomer. And to say you hate an entire generation of humans is ridiculous. What did Robin Williams, George Clooney, Dolly Parton and Stephen King ever do to you?

While I know complications can happen...this is what vaccines are for (for adults) and complications in toddlers are almost unheard of. It has really changed my perspective on this.

Same with us. My 15 month old got Covid back in May 2020 when we used to wipe down our groceries and mail and when we would never take the kids anywhere. My son was mildly sick for 24 hours. By far the mildest disease he has had. It changed our views completely. We are now all vaccinated (except for the youngest) and living a much more normal life. We went to the museums today! We are ALL going to get Omicron in the next few months (if you have not caught it already). Just live your life and stay sane… do it for your kids abs for yourself.
Spain is already starting to consider the pandemic endemic. We are going to have to live with it for ever. You will catch it, your kids will catch it and you will all be fine.

Do you think people were not going to restaurants and bars during the flu season? Measles outbreak? I can’t believe you wrote what you wrote

NP here and covid is completely different. But I guarantee you that during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1919 parents were not going to bars. I can’t believe you just wrote what you did. Think!

Care to explain how it’s different for OP’s kids and her vaccinated husband?

Seriously? Okay, because her children are not vaccinated, vaccinated adults can still spread covid to unvaccinated children, and going to a fricking bar or indoor restaurant is not exactly essential to survival or happiness. We’re in the middle of a surge of a global virus that’s still mutating.

Why does this have to be explained to you over and over again? Honestly, why? Do you even have little kids so young they can’t be vaccinated? Do you care about them at all?
