| I've seen 3 eps and love it. I've read too many of those books and can laugh at myself along with catching so many references. |
Why watch then? Agree with PPs - the title alone! |
| If you read the book, the woman in the window, I think you can see how the show really doesn’t come across as a parody. I mean, the giant glasses of wine are kind of funny but the character in the book is a very heavy drinker so it doesn’t seem far fetched. The book character was also agoraphobic so the bird thing is just a slightly different interpretation, not really a parody. i agree they are playing it too straight. I’ve only seen 1 episode though. |
| Dark humor is You or Dead to Me. This was awful. |
| Yeah, it’s not quite parody, not quite straight. Kind of odd - but enjoyable nonetheless. |
| I love the enormous wine glass that fits almost an entire bottle. Other than that, I haven't been doing too much laughing. I agree with the assessment that they're playing it too straight. And I love Kristin Bell. |
| have only watched episode 1 - felt like I was watching a show on Lifetime though. |
Is THAT what this is supposed to be? dark humor? Dead To Me has that down and did it perfectly. You....eh not so much but still loved it. So far I'm not seeing humor in woman across the street. What am I missing? |
| I liked it. Did take a couple episodes to settle in because the tone and pacing is not what you are expecting. Which is what makes it good. |
Watch the 5th episode then tell us what you think. |
| Can someone please explain what she meant by “Bingo!” at the very end when she found the woman’s compact? So weird. |
It was two things: One, that's what she said throughout the show every time she stumbled on a clue. Two, it meant that the woman existed even though everyone was telling her there was no woman. It might be an allusion to one of those "woman in the/girl in the" books, too, but if so I don't know it. |
|
I guffawed at the final ep. It took too long to get there, though
|
| I can believe how bad this was - and I love Kristin Bell! But the laughs were few, sadly. What movie were they referencing with the casseroles? |
Yeah but the Amy adams version is the one that follows the book - this was an odd attempt at parody of that version - hence the title… |
