Pretty sure my kids will not have a semblance of normal childhood socializing again

+1 we’ve even done sleepovers before kids were eligible for the vaccine.

It’s your choice, op.

Two years of childhood experiences robbed. And some people want to take it into year three. Crazy!

What isn't normal? Everything is back to normal and no restrictions.

I’m talking about the handful of posters here still keeping their kids under house arrest.

Why do you care if some of us are more cautious than you? Sorry, you're free babysitting at our home days are over even when we go back to normal. Sorry, no more feeding your kids dinner while you are home relaxing. No more driving your kids to activities while you make up some excuse when it's your day. Let's be real. You don't care about our kids as if you did you'd be more cautious so we could be more comfortable having our socialize with yours. We'll gladly wait out covid and then take all our frequent flyer miles and have a blast.

Yikes, who is this poster obsessed with others “dumping” their kids on her? It’s hilarious and completely random, since that’s not what anyone is discussing. She’s so myopic she can’t even see that some people love having their kids’ friends over, feeding them, and carpooling to activities. All she can see is her own seething resentment over someone, sometime she perceives to have taken advantage of her. It’s okay honey, take a deep breath. Next time just say no.

It’s such a weird contradictory schizophrenia of posts. “Sorry you can’t DUMP your KIDS on me ANYMORE!!!!” in the same post as “If people were ACTUALLY BEING CAREFUL maybe we could DO THINGS!!!”

But our kids are back to normal. School is normal. Sports are normal. Playdates are normal. It's all normal.

Tell me more. I’m actually looking into moving purely for normalcy. Masks in school? Play dates without hesitation?

Most places don't have masks requirements. Schools can't require them. My kids are tweens and teens but socializing and sleepovers and homecoming and parties are all the same as 2 years ago.

That said, there are no abortion rights anymore and the state laws are getting more red and I have no confidence that Beto or Matthew Dowd will win. I aim to move out when my kids graduate because it's feeling Gilead.

Yes the abortion situation is unfortunate. It really only (tragically) impacts those without means or time. If my daughters needed one I could fly them to California or wherever. It would be an inconvenience only.

My kids have time to hang out with their parents, AND their friends (indoors, gasp!) AND go to their activities. The only Covid restrictions they have are imposed by schools or businesses, not us.

I feel so sorry for the kids who only get to go to school and nowhere else.

LOL Did you forget about the $10,000 bounty on your daughter's head? If she told anyone about the abortion/miscarriage/pregnancy. Her friend from camp, the boyfriend that got her pregnant, your sister who can't keep her mouth shut. If they told anyone - a friend of a friend. Any of those people can turn her in for the abortion bounty and many will.

But yes, enjoy your states with free open carry and no abortions for any reason.

There’s no bounty on your daughter’s head- it’s on the abortion provider’s. Your DD can go to Louisiana, California or wherever to get an abortion. She can likely get abortion pills by mail order. Yes, this law is unfortunate- maddening. However, it impacts us way less than the lockdowns. I’d rather have to deal with an out-of-state abortion and have my kids in school full-time and back to normal than have easy access to abortion but have schools shut.

You are being facetious. Anyone could sue anyone for facilitating the abortion, including you for flying your daughter out of state and your daughter for getting it. Don’t stick your head in the sand. “Oh it’s just the abortion provider”

They are not your kids so not as big of a deal to you as when they get covid you will not be taking care of them.

You have no idea how fortunate you are. I have family in Florida and they are the same way.

Honestly, be thankful for your state leadership. Truly. You have no idea how bad it is here in the DMV. Especially for the kids.

What restrictions do we have in the DMV? The only restrictions are masking indoors in some areas. Your comment is really bizarre. Kids are 100% in person school, activities, camps, and everything else. Schools are 100% back to normal. The bad is only that in some jurisdictions that did virtual school that they only had limited slots so many kids are in person when the parents preferred virtual. Our school system has a long waitlist and only accepted 3000 students.

Everything is back to normal in MD, VA and DC as well. I have zero idea what they are complaining about or acting like things are not back to normal.

I agree. Don’t get where people are acting like the DMV is so crazy just for wearing masks in some indoor venues. I think some posters are really distorting the situation. And acting like Texas is great? No thanks. Used to live there. Couldn’t pay me to go back to all those retrograde Neanderthals in local and state governments.

At least your kids know what normal is.

My kid is 16 and he never had a birthday party with friends. We have dinner at a place of his choosing and a cake and presents. No parties and yet he isn't in therapy for it.
