McAuliffe's done. You have to run a campaign on themes besides "I'm not the former POTUS". Uh, it's temporarily exiled POTUS not former POTUS, and you're not running against him. You're running against a real person. Youngkin +6.

I wouldn't count on McAuliffe having Fairfax today. If he does win, I suspect it will be quite close.

He will, and it will be. So much nervousness and overthinking it.

I appreciated your post. You obviously went to a lot of trouble writing it, and it was worth reading.

I hope you will do the same for elections in DC and Maryland.

I think it’s premature to say that so many Virginians fell for it.

There are certainly a lot of folks running around spotting CRT hiding behind every tree and under every bed,

Thank you very much. I don't know that I have insight about Maryland politics. In DC, I will likely be involved in one of the campaigns.

What did Youngkin run on? All I heard was he is anti-CRT, something not even taught in VA schools. I’m most interested in keeping VA competitive in the DC area. We’ve seen tremendous growth as the state has turned blue. I don’t want to take a step backward.

McAuliffe will win Fairfax - the question is, by what margin.

Your question means that you never listened actually to Youngkin during his numerous visits to Nova. I attended both McAuliff's and Youngkin'g rallies to hear from both candidates. It is sad that people are so brainwashed that they don't make decisions for themselves anymore and don't educate themselves.

I doubt Youngkin will win, but I do think democrats have lost the thread. This past year, I was driven to quit my job due to lack of school/childcare. My child is really behind because I was trying to work instead of homeschooling. I’m exhausted and depleted and fat from the ordeal. I just want working school without insane quarantines. People have really basic, practical concerns.

It is so strange that that child care and education are reasons you would vote for ... Republicans. That is so backwards. The pandemic sucked. But if child care and education are your future concern, Republicans are not your friends. That's like voting for people who want to outlaw umbrellas because the other guys couldn't stop the rain.

Keeping kids out of school for a year was a real doozy. It's not suprising to me that people are going R now. The bare minimum should have been never close schools for a year.

Y'all are forgetting the VMPI fiasco, that is also on the ballot--yet not talked of, DCUM brought it to the limelight

I agree - and I haven't forgotten.

With the 100,000+ copies of Kendi's book purchased by VA school districts, CRT is hiding behind every tree and under every bed.

Virginians (and I suspect many people from other states feel the same way) don't really like being preached to by people from other states that don't really have anything to do with us. Is this thread suppose to change some Virginia voter's mind? In either direction? I really want people to stop using our election as a prop for their own person/professional gain, basically coming in, stirring things up and then leaving. This is a state wide election. I hate that it has been dragged into some national political spotlight.

The point of this thread was for me to provide my own analysis of the election. I didn't expect to convince anyone of anything and, given my post's length, doubted anyone would even read it. I think that it is extraordinary that a conservative activist admitted on the record that CRT was a completely made-up boogyman and that so many Virginians completely fell for it. In addition, I am concerned about the Republicans' adoption of violent confrontation as a campaign tactic. If Youngkin is successful, we will see this strategy repeated in the 2022 midterms.

It was shown to be a strategy that gets attention far better than just going to your job and voting. Sometimes it pays to follow the other teams playbook.
