| Harvard-Westlake would waltz in most anywhere in these parts. |
As would Brearley or Choate or Exeter. So what? That doesn’t change OP’s target question. |
Waitlists don't count. |
Sidwell has the strongest CS curriculum of the schools mentioned. |
Nope |
|
Question for OP: where are you coming from? If it's from NY any school in the area could work...if not you'll have a hard time since this area can be cut throat.
Best of luck to you and your DD. |
At all those schools, you've "arrived" in life. At all the DC schools under consideration you are a "striver." This goes to the expressed desire for "kind supportive atmosphere." I'm with the "don't move" voters. |
Are you trying to create a narrative for your next screen play or something? Or are you writing anonymous posts to cite in your next Op Ed? |
Dramatic much?

NCS current 9th is a good grade and diverse in all ways so a new student I think would find her people easily and fast. So many good schools in this area. It would help to narrow down to single sex or coed. |
The strongest STEM school are the Public STEM magnets. Montgomery Blair in Montgomery County, and Thomas Jefferson in VA. |
Yes, they do. But in this case, the DD is happy at a school with a good fit and the alternative is to move to one of the schools on this thread. Why do that to a kid? |
To keep the family intact? People move all the time, do you know any military families? They are here for three years and gone and their kids learn to adapt. |
Actually am military and have moved my share and been posted where family can’t follow. Better to have a child in a school that’s a good fit than move here. The job can wait till she’s left for college. |
| If you can't get into a DC private, you may want to consider weekly boarding at a school like McDonogh or Garrison Forest in the Baltimore suburbs. About a hour away from Chevy Chase. Come home on weekends. Just a thought. |
