And they aren't impressed with upper grades (though maybe they aren't disappointed). I went to their virtual open house. It was terrible. I didn't hold it against them at the time, but given how happy we are with our title 1 dcps, I'm glad we had a terrible lotto number. I think the issues they had were more emblematic than I realized.

No idea what you are talking about. The school sends a detailed newsletter out every single week to all the families. Every week. It has new communications about things and reminders about things from previous communications.

BTW, included with this newsletter is a weekly Covid dashboard this year with numbers tested, numbers quarantine, number of positive cases, etc…. The school is testing 90% of the total population.

As to teachers, that is case specific but it’s been great for us for the past 2 years. Always a response within 48 hours to email but most of the time within 24 hours.

Email is useful but does not have everything. It's good to know about school activities but it doesn't provide a way for me to discuss a problem my kid is having. Yeah, school isn't daycare. But if a teacher doesn't get back to me after a reasonable amount if time that's a problem. And it's apparently a common one.

Exactly. This is especially true for prek, K, and kids with specific challenges where the kids can't easily convey challenged to parents. And frankly all parents should have a broad sense of how their kid is doing.

We know several people who started there with a plan to bail!

Seems like DCUM folks known ALL the people who bail from Mundo. They have a pretty decent retention rate so I find this unusual. I don’t have a kid there but just an observation.

They have one of the highest retention rates so it doesn’t support the narrative. Read what you will with a grain of salt.

My kid has a new kid in his class today from MV (and its Count Day, so the Ward 5 shuffle was REAL)
