| I'm watching the Ozark series on Netflix, set in the Missouri Ozarks. I remembering family vacations there as a child (we lived in Iowa). The series depicts most of the locals as lowlifes and crooks. Are they? |

remembering = remember
|
No. They are as much lowlifes and crooks as every single military member walks around all day in full service dress with a chest full of medals while yelling at people in a southern accent while their kids do PT for punishment and call him sir. Hollywood lives for fake stereotypes. |

Thank you.

It actually doesn’t. The show is focused on organized crime so the main characters and many supporting ones are criminals or morally dark gray. However, there are plenty of people shown who aren’t that way. Also, drive two hours from here and you will see plenty of concentrated rural poverty and how it shapes people’s ethical decisions. |
| missorah red necks are so funny! |
| Jason Bateman is still a cute guy. |
He is still my Silver Spoons Teen Beat crush! |
Op, it's like saying mafia movies are representative of Italians. |
Considering how many core Italian neighborhoods in major cities have managed to keep themselves Italian-only...I'd say that the theatrical representation isn't too far off. |
