Garnet Hill

What do you think of their products?

I love the look of their stuff but haven't bought much because of their shipping prices/policies (i.e. have to pay to return things). I bought some boiled wool slippers that I love and some Asian pajamas which I like, but I think they shrunk more than I would have hoped in the wash. Have come very close to buying other items, but seems to be a bit overpriced, I think. Sounds like their cashmere is good.

I buy lots for DD there, but nothing for me.

I have purchased a select number of things from them - all of which I am very happy with.

A fall / spring jacket for me that I always get compliments on. I picked it up at the end of the season on sale. It wears well and I expect to have it for a few years.
Holiday sweater of the kids - these run a bit big
Items for decorating the house - super cute!
Sheets - cute and have worn well.

Most of these things I pick up during the sales - OR I wait for coupon codes.

is this garnet hill another athleta type cult?

Huh. Didn't know there was a Cult of Athleta. And now one for Garnet Hill, too?

I've had some winners and losers, but overall I like GH enough to order from them.

Funny, I thought J Crew was a cult! HAHAHAHA!

I bought some Marimekko sheets, which were great, but returned the Garnet Hill label clothes I ordered because the fabric was cheesy.

And, yes, there is an Athleta cult! I'm a founding member. But what's with the Title IX cult? All my Bay Area friends rave about it, but the stuff I've ordered has been ill-fitting and cheesy.

Title IX is based in the Bay Area (Emeryville right over the Bay Bridge). They have retail stores there so I think it is easier to buy. Also, the style of casual dress in the Bay Area is a lot aligned with athletic wear than what you see in DC.

I love Title IX. I love what they stand for and support them through purchasing their products.

How many clothing companies that you buy from can you say that you believe in their mission statement?

I have bought tshirts and a pair of flowy pants. I actually love the pants. The shirts I like, but they are a little boxy. I tend to like more form fitting clothes and Garnet Hill is not that. Agree that shipping is a bit high and have contemplated other items that I have not purchased for this reason. DId get a pair of ballet flats with free shipping. Overall like those.

We used to live in the Bay Area and loved it. You're right about the dress style being different there -- and I love that style -- but regardless of that , if I"m buying a pair of workout pants for $60, I expect a certain quality. A mission statement is fine, but I can't wear it to the gym.

I always see things in the catalog that i like but they seem overpriced, and the things I really like never seem to go on sale. Bought a pair of Privo flats a few years ago, but you can get those anywhere. Paying for returns really irks me so I tend to not order unless the sale price makes it worth it. They just sent out a good coupon, if I recall.
