Oldest child starting MCPS middle school. Are schedules mailed, or do the 6th graders get them when they go for their half day?

Yes, 6th graders will get them tomorrow if they attend the orientation. Everyone else on the first day of school.

Orientation is done. Tomorrow is "mock half day" but yes they can pick up their schedules then.
Homerooms are posted online now.

Wow, just looked in the portal and they're using Canvas. Is this new or had this already been in place? (first time middle school parent)

Canvas was new last year. Rolled out late (as in, the day before classes started) with no training. Teachers may or may not have been using it last year. More teachers will be using it this year (with early adopters to help train others). How and how much each teacher is using it this year is a good question to ask at Back to School Night.

Schedules received by mail a couple of weeks ago. Specific teacher assignments received tonight.
