Health and Medicine
| Just trying to figure out what kind of pandamonium to expect tomorrow. |
| I have been getting posts via MONA (Moms of North Arlington) all day, and everyone has indicated the wait is short - 10-20 minutes. |
| There was no line when I went there today, it got kind of crowded by the time I left (I think it was because it was lunchtime then), but nothing like those stories of the waits in MD. |
|
To the person getting posts on MONA:
What is the age cut-off for vaccination? I spoke to someone from the Arlington Health Dept. this AM who said it was 2 and older. But someone is posting on here that it is THREE and older? Do you have any info on this? |
| Do you have to be a resident of Arlington to get the h1n1 vaccine? |
MONA people have indicated it is 2 and under...I have gotten about 6 posts about the clinic today so that seems pretty accurate. |

Children must have reached their 2nd birthday. DS is 23 months and could not get the injection. He is eligible next month.
I would not count on the lines being the same tomorrow. Arlington did a poor job communicating at first. But now the word is spreading pretty widely. |
If someone successfully gets their 2 year old a vaccine at the Arlington clinic, please let me know. I took 2 hours of leave, pulled my 2 year old out of daycare, and drove into Arlington to get this vaccine only to be turned away. I also had a 20 minute long argument with 2 staff members about it, and they both were very firm that 2 AND UNDER could not get it. You child must be more than 36 months of age. I am seriously considering bringing my child back tomorrow and saying he is 3. |
| To PP: They asked my child how old he was. |
| they asked my son how old he was too. |
| Yes, they will ask your child's age and there is a clear distinction between doses if it's the shot form for those 35 months and under, .25, and those 36 months and older, .5. |
|
| You should probably get there really early tomorrow, they're projecting that the clinic will be out of vaccines sometime tomorrow. |
FYI, the Arlington County website is updated to say "Please note that at this time we are unable to vaccinate children 24 months of age and younger" so I think there was some confusion today that has now been clarified. Better than lying or trying to get your child to lie (a la "balloon boy"). |
