Wondering if anyone has any idea where we can get the flu vaccine for our DD. Also H1N1...

My OB and Ped don't have it. Just called the MoCo hotline and they are totally useless. I'm not sure they guy I talked to was even awake.

try a cvs minute clinic. they'll vaccineate as young as 6 mos.

Do not go to the Arlington walk in clinic. Although it isn't posted anywhere, they do not vaccinate children under the age of 3. I took my 2 year old there today and was turned away.

Umm, pp, Minute Clinic only has h1n1 supplies in Florida and Indiana.

According to my pediatrician, there is a shortage of children's seasonal flu vaccine. The manufacturers who make it are the same ones
who make H1N1 and they stopped or slowed down making seasonal flu in favor of the H1N1 vaccine. The children's vaccine is
different from the adults, so there is no shortage of adult seasonal vaccine. Just keep checking with your pediatrician.

As for H1N1, Montgomery County Dept of Health is having clinics on Wednesdays, check website. My 2 yr old go the flu
vaccine (first dose) last Wednesday, but came down with the flu on Sunday. Takes 2 does + 2 weeks after the last dose
to protect against flu. (at least H1N1)

minute clinic only takes 18 months and up.

My ped. in Bethesda has both, but I'm pretty sure they're only giving them to current clients who are under 3 years old.

Sorry!

There is an H1N1 clinic in Rockville tomorrow morning - you can check the MoCo gov't website for information. It's on Piccard Drive.

Can you make an appointment for minute clinic?

I stopped at the Minute Clinic in Vienna on Monday, after psyching my 8 year old (who does well with shots) and my 5 year old (who does not) up to get their shots... Turns out they are all out of seasonal flu vaccines... Not expecting more until early Nov. My ped is also out, as is another clinic that I've gone to in the past...

Sigh......

Have you tried Nighttime Pediatrics in Rockville? They might have it -- their Web site is unclear. Also, this site has a seasonal flu locator. Don't know how up to date it is.

the arlington clinic (on wilson blvd, anyway) gave my just under 3 yo (35 month) son the mist this morning. this is going to sound really silly, but i suspect there's a disconnect between parents and some of the clinic workers who are not familiar with kids. for some of them, when they hear "2" they think "under 24 months" because 2 years = 24 months and they think the kid won't be past 24 months until he turns 3. but they forget or don't know about the 12 months before they turn one. so you have to make sure you're talking the same language with them.

on the other hand, i could just by sympathetic to the poor clinic workers who have to listen to people complain about the shortages....
