talk to me about your Apple Watch

do you like it? what do you use it for? worth buying one?

FWIW, I have a Fitbit right now and love the step tracking/calories burned functionality, so the fitness aspect of the watch really appeals to me.

Wait till the fall when the new one is released.

I'm not crazy about the way it looks but I love its functions. My watch is now phone, email, messaging, alarm, heart monitor, step monitor and news update. It also finds my phone for me and monitors my sleep. I seldom take it off except to charge it. (battery runs down quickly so screen is kept on touch access, remaining dark unless I poke it.)

Wide variety of reasonably priced bands on Etsy are helping with the "look."

You mean the one I wore for two weeks and has been sitting in a drawer since?!? I am a lover of technology but just didn’t get into this product unfortunately

The fitness component is pretty awesome. Rather than counting steps or fixating on numbers of calories or hours of exercise, you set your goals and "close your rings". I have a job where I walk/stand constantly (ER doc) and I thought I knew what my expenditure was. Totally wrong, and this has helped me achieve daily goals.

If you don't want to drop top dollar, get an older model or a refurbished one.

I love mine and can’t imagine life without it, but I think it just works better for some people than others. I’m a runner and overall athletic woman and I originally bought it because I run alone 5-6 days a week and never take a phone, so with the LTE hooked up I have a nice safety net now. I’ve found the GPS and pace to be about as good as my old Garmin. If you’re a runner, the “instant pace” doesn’t seem quite as accurate and fast to update as the Garmin but it’s really not that far off.

I am a lawyer (a prosecutor) and I’m in court constantly and while I usually have my phone it’s been great to be able to see and send texts when it would be inappropriate to have my phone out.

As far as the fitness tracking I do like it better than my Fitbit. I don’t care as much about my # of steps anymore and I love how closing the rings gives more credit to exercise minutes and calories burned. I have done really difficult fitness classes or weightlifting workouts in the past that I’d get barely any steps from on a Fitbit, but the AW’s system gives credit where credit is due. My understanding is that in the fall the software update will expand some of the fitness features including the ability to have challenges with friends.

I love mine, but I exercise a lot and use it for that. I run Strava on my watch and use an app for tracking my workouts in the gym. It's also nice when riding my bike to see who is calling/texting w/o having to pull out my phone. My battery life has been great; generally charge it for a bit every morning when I'm in the shower and the occasional one hour charge and it never runs out. It tracks steps walked, flights climbed, resting heart rate etc.

I had a Fitbit Iconic before getting the iWatch. It had slightly better built in fitness functionality and better battery life, but it's pretty poor as a smart watch.

I love mine because I can always see the weather. I think the fitness part sucks unless you are a gym person...I am a farmer and it doesn’t credit basic activity much even though I am very fit.

I broke 2 fitbits in 3 months, had my Apple Watch well over a year and it looks pristine. I like that it is waterproof too.

I just wish I could find an Android watch that didn't look like a dinner plate affixed to my wrist!

Mine sits in a drawer for one reason only. It absolutely destroys my phone’s battery life

Other than that, I absolutely love it.

I don't like to be wired 24/7. I don't keep any electronics in my bedroom, no wi-fi is on at night time at my house. So, I don't use it as often as most people use it.

Starters, I am not a gadget person. I can barely work a remote.

I did not think of ever buying an Apple Watch because I dislike constantly being connected to my phone.

But then, I started working out & it’s truly amazing.

I set goals to close out my rings constantly, also I am able to swim with it so that’s a plus to add to the calories ring.

In the winter, I am able to look at texts without pulling out my phone as I am walking.

Also, while working out I can change the music right from the watch when I pair it with the headphones.

I’ve also used Apple Pay a couple of times and that was seriously convenient.

I turned off a lot of the notifications on it though because I truly just need it to be functional without having a constant ping like my cell.

I’d go for it, it’s useful

My Apple Watch is a few years old, maybe 3? Is mine waterproof? Or is that a new thing?

The Series 2 and Series 3 are waterproof. You probably have a Series 1, which is not.
