It may be the seasonal flu

Don't assume that your child has H1N1 - it may be the seasonal flu. My daughter was admitted to the hospital last week with respitory problems. She tested positive for the flu and several days later the swine flu test came back negative. The doctors assumed she had swine flu becuase, as they said, "it is all they are seeing right now." My daughter had the seasonal flu vaccine about a month ago which unfortunately did not protect her from the strain of flu that she caught last week. It is my understanding that peds are testing for the flu generally, not for the swine flu specifically, and assuming that all positive flu tests are swine flu - I wouldn't be so quick to make that assumption. It may be worth talking with your doctor about pursuing the swine flu vaccine even if you've tested positive for the "flu" generally because unless they confirmed swine flu it may have been the seasonal flu.

Same here, two of my children tested positive for the flu this week (strain B). One with high fever and cough, the other with high fever and vomiting. Unfortunately we had not had our flu vax yet so I have no idea of knowing whether or not the strain they caught was part of the vax or not.
