Lead & MCPS water fountains

Old news. Test results were out before school dismissed for the summer.

Wow, pretty bad. I hope they get this fixed by the time my kid is in school....

It's not surprising given the age of the buildings (and plumbing systems) but the standard of 20 ppb is way too high for safety.

My childrens' school was one that tested sky-high on a few sinks, none of which were used by children. The school took them out of commission, but I'm actually more concerned about the borderline faucets and sinks that were below 20 but above 10 ppb.

It is bad and MCPS dawdled on testing each school. One of the best things our PTA did at our school last year was to use some of their funds to install water filters on the fountains when the first stories about lead in McPS came out last year.

Because of what went down in DC back in the early 2000s, I send my kid to school with a water bottle and explicit instructions not to drink water from the school.

Except for all the test results that weren't released before school was out.

Maybe they were just released to staff. My principal sent us an email the week before school ended.
