For MCPS primary grades reading teachers

After attending the summer training for reading. What is your take away? How will your reading block look different?

More emphasis on teaching foundational skills....in which lessons aren't explicitly offered in the curriculum. I love that they referenced the OLD curriculum towards the very end of the day and showed everyone how to find it for teachers who never taught prior to Curriculum 2.0.

Does that mean you all are being encouraged to teach the old curriculum, since 2.0 has so many issues and they haven’t found a new one yet?

It was referenced in the training presentation and still accessible on the platform that houses Curriculum 2.0. I guess it must have valuable resources that didn't get brought over when C 2.0 rolled out. I REALLY miss the old curriculum. It made sense and was really easy to follow. Unfortunately, it's not aligned to the Common Core State Standards and "too surface level" according to politicians who have never taught 7 year olds.
