Socks for boots - can you recommend?

I have mid-calf boots & my regular socks are annoying me - falling down, crumpling at the foot, etc. Love to hear any recommendations for comfy long socks that stay up!

Target has great socks that are similar to opaques with clingy bands at the top. Wear them with all my boots.

I wear skiing socks: they've got more elastic and thus stay up much better than regular socks. They are quite long, so you may have to fold them in half to keep them out of sight. I've sworn by them for close to a decade now! Also, many ski socks are padded, which are an added boon if you have skinny calves.

Ann Taylor Loft sells boot socks. Basically knee socks. They seem nice but I haven't had them long enough to know if the elastic will hold up over time.
