cheap online source for toner cartridges?

Anonymous
I simply can't pay the Office Depot price for my HP Laser Jet printer. Does anyone have a reliable online source for cheaper toner cartidges? Have you ever bought the "used/refurbished" -- do they hold up ok or are they a waste of money? Thanks if you can help, I'm on a tight budget right now.

No recommendations, sorry. But you can recycle up to 10 empty cartridges at Staples every month for $3 of credit per cartridge. The credit lasts for 3 months and you can use it for other supplies at Staples, either at the store or online. It can add up if you save up the cartridges and recycle up to the max number each month.

I buy inkjet cartridges on amazon. Costco also is good, if they stock the right kind for your printer.

Thanks to the PP for the Staples tip!

17:05 here. Just wanted to add that the credit is through the Staples Rewards card/program. Sign up is free.

thanks again everyone!

In case anyone else is in as tight a budget situation as I am, I will share that I just learned that yes you CAN refill toner cartridges kist as you can inkjets. I'm reading you can do this up to 3 or 4 times, and the cost is more like $20 per refill than the $50 to $70 per new cartridge. So... I'll be trying that option, wish me luck!
