Spelling Curriculum in MD public schools

Is there any official spelling curriculum in your child's school, or school district? What text books or system or method are they using?

I have a child in PG county schools and tutor some other kids in the couty schools and haven't been able to find any evidence of consistent spelling curriculum, texts or programs. I'm wondering if this perception is correct? Is it also true in Montgomery County?

ALso -- the Maryland State Achievement tests -- does correct spelling count for much on those tests?
