My DH is 6’4” and in good shape, if I do say so myself. I drive the family car (a minivan) but we need a new car for him. He currently drives a 10 year old sedan. In addition to another sedan, he is also considering a small SUV. Which of the following do you think he would look best in? I admit I think some of these seem like ladies’ cars.
CRV CX-5 Nissan Rogue Subaru Forrester Alternatively he would just get another sedan, likely Sonata, Camry, or Accord. Thoughts? |
| I hope you are a troll. If you are not, you need get a life. A car is a car. |
| My husband is similar in size. I just bought a crosstrek and he loves it. It drives like a car but has good headroom. |
Every vehicle you mentioned is a woman's vehicle, but especially those cringe inducing suvs. Two schools of thought. First, you are what you drive. Proceed accordingly and develop a new list. And stick shift only, because real men don’t drive automatics. Second option: a self confident man drives what he wants to drive, especially at this stage of life. |
| VW Beetle. |
I am not a troll. I don’t understand your statement “a car is a car.” Most people I know put a lot of thought into the car they were going to buy. |
| My Dad is 6'3" and 259 lbs, and likes his Subaru Forester. He has a hard time in smaller cars because of his height. He also liked a Rogue that he tebted, not sure if he liked it more than the Forester. |
What if he doesn’t know what he wants? Any suggestions since those are all Women’s vehicles according to you? |
Your focus on "manly" and "good shape" got you off on the wrong foot. You should have just said he was big, which is relevant. |
| Was also going to suggest a Subaru - your DH needs to see if he actually fits in those others you mentioned, because I am betting you can knock half of them off your list because he can't fit/sit comfortably! |
I was trying to paint a picture, since my question was about image, which as much as we all like to pretend doesn’t matter, it does. I would like his car to say “successful but practical handsome family man.” Because that’s what he is and I love him. Thanks for the suggestions! Keep them coming! |
| A manly man would pick out his own car, without his wife crowdsourcing whether his choices were too feminine or not. |
| Maybe not, but you’re already DCUM famous. |

Fine, poke fun. Happy I can amuse you.
So you think there is nothing wrong with a 6’4 man in his 30’s driving a CRV? Because that’s what he wants. |
It’s fine. But I’m surprised he’s comfortable in it. Can anyone actually sit behind him when he’s in either of the front seats or does he need to keep the seat all the way back. |
