| Okay, so there are so many eye creams from drug store/target to Nordstrom/Bloomies and on top of that everytime you pick up a magazine it says that one is better than the other. I am 43 and have some crows feet - ugh, I guess it was all that sun when I was younger. I have tried all kinds of eye creams and really don't see any difference in any of them. So, what do you ladies think?? Which ones have you tried and did they work??? |

I get medical grade stuff (not prescription) from my doc. Once you have a consultation to see what you need, you can then buy it at skinstore.com.
You need to figure out what you need in an eye cream - lines, dark circles, puffiness, redness, etc. While I do use some retinol and glycolic medical-grade products, I also use and swear by Strivectin. I use one for puffiness in the morning and then something for moisture at night. |
| No eye creams work. They moisturize. That's it. It's all gimmick. If you want to do something about the crows feet, see your dermatologist. |

Not true, pp. You can't say that someone who takes care to moisturize their eye area will have the same lines and wrinkles as someone who does nothing.
Eye creams work to varying levels, but they are not miracle creams that will eliminate all your lines. They will always make you look better than going without and lessen what you have. But regular use is also key. You can't expect to use something every once in awhile and see results. I use a retinol eye cream which greatly helps to keep the lines at bay. It is not prescription nor cosmetic - it goes beneath the skin's surface and thus has corrective power. |
| Oh pp, you've so bought into the hype. Ask ANY dermatologist. |

PP here. Where do you think I buy my eye cream?
Argue all you like, but my skin looks great. I receive several compliments every week from women who want to know what I use. I'm over 50 and have never had a facial, peel or anything else done to my skin. I'm told by most that I look 40. |
wow, several compliments EVERY week? that is a hell of a lot of compliments. |
|
5:13 here. Yes, it is true about the compliments. I do see alot of people during the weekday so it's not as if it's every single time I go out.
I grew up with a European grandmother who told me to take care of my skin and stay out of the sun. As a result, I'm as thoughtful about my skin as brushing my teeth and use a sunblock 365 days a year. Over 50 with no visible lines on the face until I smile (and no botox). Glycolic products and sunblock are the reason why my skintone is uniform with no spots or sun damage. Now, if I can just make my hair thicker... |
| PP, what products do you use? Im interested in where you get your glycolic stuff? |
|
PP here. The products I use are based upon my skintype - mature skin that tends to have an oily t-zone. I do use a combo of products that are either doctor recommended or from the drug store. I go cheap on cleansers and don't need to use things like masks, toners or exfoliants because the glycolic products take care of skincell turnover.
I use Glytone and MD Forte for glycolic needs. Avene for retinol and RevaleSkin for anti-oxidant moisturizer. Get some OTC products from LaRoche-Posey at the high-end CVS stores. Also swear by anything Strivectin - use the eye cream to eliminate redness and the handcream which gets rid of veiny, crepey hands. These have a medical-grade concentration so if you find them at the stores, that version is watered-down. My go-to product is Anthelios XL broad-spectrum sunblock. It is the world's most effective sunblock and only the "American" formula is available in this country but you can order it through Canada or buy it in Europe. It goes on the face, throat, decollete and back of the neck every day. I also sunblock my hands when I get in the car. You should see your dermatologist to get an analysis and product recommendation first. Then order online after using what you bought at the doc's. (There are also higher concentrations that you will gradually move up to using.) I like skinstore.com - no tax and free shipping with $49 minimum order. They also reward me with $30 coupons as a frequent buyer. I save tons of money over what I spent at the department store or at the doc's office. Should also mention that as your skin gets smoother and more luminous, make sure you aren't ruining it by wearing a visible foundation or face powder. I now skip foundation and wear a talc-free face powder only (talc ages you). Your skin should look perfect and as if you aren't wearing anything on it. |
