feeding deer

we see a lot of deer on our backyard. DW wants to feed them with deer corn and such. any reason we shouldn't?

Deer are wild animals,they know how to forage for food and need no help. You feed them and they will turn into a nuisance. Plus you'll probably piss off your neighbors.

Put out a salt lick in the winter too. I always feed deer and they love the salt.

Deer are wild animals. If you feed them, they will have no fear of humans and start “begging” for food.

I don't feed them in person. They live in my yard anyway, in the section that grows wild next to county property.

Well, if it's winter and there's a lot of snow on the ground, I wouldn't fault you for putting some hay out for them. If you feed them only during emergencies then they won't become accustomed.

There's a nut on our street that puts out corn and sunflower seeds for the deer. That doesn't stop the deer from destroying everything in the other yards. Don't be that person.
