I saw this article this morning... pretty shocking. Plz read. I guess I'm voting for Hogan if even Leggett doesn't support Jealous. Especially if Jealous isn't a good deal for MoCo.

| I find this weird. Elrich is as progressive as Jealous. Why would Leggett endorse Elrich and not Jealous? I think there must be some personal enmity here. |
| Legged DOES support Jealous. And as a faithful Democrat, he'll give him his vote. Even if it's begrudgingly. The rest of you could learn a lesson in dignity and loyalty from this. |
What does this have to do with dignity? I guess you are talking about loyalty to the party. But I certainly don't think that should be paramount. If Leggett thinks Jealous would be bad for MoCo, he would be loyal to his constituents by not supporting Jealous. I'd respect that more than blind loyalty to a political party. It sounds like most people will "support" Jealous, but it will be very lukewarm support without using much effort or resources to back him. I mean it is crazy state Senate leader described Hogan as governing from the center - a major Hogan talking point - while "endorsing" Jealous. |
| Wait and see- Jealous will be one of the greatest govs ever |
Why isn't he endorsing him, though? Even Rushern Baker, who's more moderate than Ike (I've worked with both of them), endorsed Jealous. |
| Legget WILL endorse him. Just watch. |
| Black woman here— what’s shocking? The fact that Ike may not support or is lukewarm to another Black candidate ? News flash all Black people are not a monolith group with the same beliefs, ideals. |
I don't think OP's post had anything to do with race. It is shocking that one a prominent D politician isn't endorsing the D candidate for governor. And other D pols are not endorsing or doing so very perfunctorily. I think it is a function of serious concern about Jealous and a belief that Hogan is doing a decent job. These acknowledgements would be a little less surprising in a less hyper-partisan time. |
Because the caricature of Elrich on DCUM as a wild eyed hippie DSA'er isn't accurate? He's not reflexively pro-development he's liberal but he's also pragmatic |
It's accurate. I've worked with him. Much of his platform is identical to Jealous'. |
It's not about race at all. |
And this is one reason I, a liberal Montgomery County resident, will likely vote for Hogan. We'll be fine with one very liberal executive; two could be an issue. Also, Erlich can't/won't divert education funds from Montgomery County; Jealous can and has indicated that he intends to. Other than the ridiculous school scheduling issue, I'm fine with generally all of Hogan's actions as governor. |
He probably will, but that he has delayed doing so and it is possible he won't is itself highly unusual. |
How is begrudgingly voting for someone dignified? And not knowing Mr. Jealous personally, I don't feel I owe him any sort of loyalty. I haven't decided yet who to vote for, but this kind of nonsense is how Roy Moore almost got elected in Alabama. People there were so loyal to the damn (R) they were willing to vote in a pedophile over a Democrat. I'll make an informed choice based on the issues, thank you, and I will not blindly vote for anyone based on a letter appearing after their name. If more people bothered to do their homework and think for themselves, we might not be in the mess we're currently in. |
