Many student groups across the ivy league have started groups asking for legacy admissions to be banned. Great article here - i found this interesting.

| Well I think there's an argument to be made that legacy admissions most strongly benefit rich white people so it's only fair that if affirmative action goes away, so does legacy preference. |

But only one is constitutionally suspect as a disparate impact claim against legacy admissions would almost certainly fail. And it will likely take a lot more than some student protests for schools to completely move away from legacy preferences because of the benefits to the school. |
| I would like to see accidents of birth removed from admissions consideration. |

I'm against AA as well as legacy and athletic preferences. Legacy preference is about the only way my kid would get into my highly competitive alma mater, but she really shouldn't be taking the place of a more highly qualified non-legacy. |

 Like natural intelligence? |
|
Are Asians the only group that actually gets in because of merit now?
 |

 And non-legacy whites. |

is you kid dumber than you? |

non-legacy gentile whites. fixed it for you. |
| Let the private universities/colleges continue to practice legacy preferences if they choose. But revoke non-profit designation for them and they should pay taxes like any for-profit corporation. Also the federal and state governments should stop funding research projects at those universities/colleges. I wounder whether even the mighty Harvard will choose to practice legacy preferences under those circumstances. If it does, many faculty members will choose to move to other universities to continue their research activities. |

Nope. Less motivated though. Plus it's more competitive now. |

Or being born to parents who value education and know how to provide reading and math experiences from an early age? |

 Good luck with that. |
| There’s absolutely zero reason for wealthy white parents of any political persuasion to oppose affirmative action as long as their kids are still able to gain admission to elite institutions. The social stigma attached to bring an opponent of affirmative action is severe. But taking away legacy preference would be a first step. |
