Has anyone stayed here?
According to Trip Advisor, it is the old Ritz Carlton, and is only partially open since the hurricane. The website says they are still undergoing renovations. Just wondering how it has been for anyone who has stayed |

We stopped on st. Thomas during a cruise over spring break. It was still a mess. We were on a small boat that took us to a couple different parts to snorkel (including St. John), and the resorts we passed were decimated. Plus, the snorkeling is terrible (reefs were damaged, and wildlife was either killed or moved on).
I stayed at the old ritz 20 years ago. It was lovely. The beach was small, but private. But they definitely had tarps on the roof when we sailed past during spring break. Have you tried calling the hotel or checking trip advisor reviews? |

How come the ritz Carlton site says they're reopening summer 2019?
Are we talking about 2 different properties? |

I just Googled “Marriott St. Thomas” and one of the top hits refers to the Marriott at Great Bay. This location was, indeed, a Ritz hotel for many years. I stayed there several times and the pictures are definitely the same Ritz property.
I then Googled “Ritz St. Thomas” and, without going to deep, it appears to still be a Ritz. Not sure what the actual situation is. |

The Ritz St Thomas had a hotel part and a time share condo part. Maybe the time share condo part got re-branded?
I know when Marriott bought Westin, they originally did not buy the Westin time shares, and then went back and bought the time share properties as well. Perhaps they are rebranding all of the timeshares in their portfolio now. |

Yes, that’s exactly right. The timeshare part got rebranded.
I would love to go and support the economy there (there are 7 families going) but I wish I could find someone who has been there. TripAdvisor had a few recent reviews. |
Marriott started buying out the Ritz in 1995 and is in the process of rebranding some of them from Ritz's to Marriott's. |
