| whats their deal? after looking at their website and talking to the coach. It seems as if you try out if you like it you make the team. totally different approach than most other clubs . Anyone have kids play their ? looks like their travel teams do very well in NCSL. The coach was recruiting several kids to join over the past few weeks. Is it a better program than the Bryc Odsl program? My ds is at Bryc odsl now . I can't think to move him to the elite or ecnl Bryc. The program on that side with the boys teams is very unstable. A lot of parents unhappy with lack of development especially from the younger teams u9-u13. Im looking for a club in the area that actually works on developing the entire age pool rather than just trying to boast win totals with so called A Teams. Which fall apart as they get older and are poached but the elite teams Loudon and Arlington DA. |
| Yes they are better than BRYC ODSL. However, the style is predominantly long ball across the board. |
| Is this the one associated with the Fairfax Sports plex? |
| I don't have a kid in the program but from what I've heard from BRYC elite parents. I would keep my kid in ODSL before wasting the $$$ there. that program is run and employs family members as coaches, also have the entire coaching staff from Bishop O'Connell hs as coaches . its a lets fill our friends pockets $$ program. they constantly push their own privately owned skills camps and academies . and B teams at any age group are basically shunned in both training and games. personally my kids are at Burke Athletic Club where all the kids train together for equal skills training. BAC is a smaller club and resigned to the fact that as the kids get older and better. they will move onto better clubs i.e. Arlington ,Loudon, Mclean. Would assume Team America is the same development as a priority club wide rather than inflating win stats for top teams to sell a product rather than improve their club players across the board. |
| If you are at BRYC now, you are much closer to FPYC, Burke, SYA, SYC, or even VYS...why not try one of those? |
| We were there for younger ages. At that age focus is entirely on ball skills. There is no passing or teamwork taught. Kids have amazing skills. |
At that age, it should be technical. Tactical comes into play more after U11 imo. |
| One of the teams we played in a tournament last Fall had the worst parental sideline behavior ever. Taunting 9-year old kids on opposing team, celebrating on the field during the game, etc. I hope they aren't all like that. |
Sounds like Braddock Rd elite . They have a u-11 coach that was a complete physco last season witnessed him screaming at both teams player as well as opposing coaches and parents |
I think I know who you are talking about because I witnessed the same at a tournament where the 2nd U11 elite team was playing. Can't believe people put up with him. |
It is amazing to me what parents will accept from their coaches. We've seen terrible coaches from McLean, Burke, and others who just yell, yell, yell. Both teams were good with winning records...guess that is what parents care about it. |
| If you have a coach that is out of control, leave! Too many clubs in the DMV to put up with that garbage. We had a prick of a coach in the Fairfax area and parents of the other team would sometimes come over and ask if he's always this "active". We left because even with a winning record my child started to hate soccer. Who the hell wants to get yelled at for hours at a time. |
We have left a club because of coaching style and screaming during matches. None of the ones listed. I’m not a fan of joystick coaching. |
| We had a game with a team and the coach screams, "if you don't want to play i'll stick your tail back on the bench" Really? How does that help the player and what did they learn? Idiot meat head. |
| What’s wrong with that if you have 10 guys who are visibly working their butts off and 1 guy who’s slacking and just going through the motions? It’s a wake-up call. You don’t know if the player has bad attendance/attitude and the coach has tried different methods to get them to step it up before this moment. Yanking them would be worse. |
