do deleted threads still appear in topic searches?

Wanting to make sure a thread was deleted. I can still see it by topic earch, but clicking on the thread, it indicates "topic does not exist".

Was confused because I came across an open window with the thread in it (in an earlier state) and saw the reply box was empty. Thinking I still needed to request removal I clicked reply and got a "ooops you dont have permission to access".

Sometimes someone is in the process of replying when I delete a post or thread. Their post goes through and get put in the backend database. It can't load, but can appear in the search results. I periodically clean out these posts and will do so now.
