Dr. Andersen VS Dr. Hodges

I'm trying to decide between Dr. Glenna Andersen and Dr. Walter Hodges. Any thoughts or opinions on either OBGYN are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I know several people who have been very happy with Dr. Andersen and her entire practice.

I quit Dr. Andersen's group after my first emergency. They did not even make an effort to see me in the office instead sending me to Fairfax radiology group. My husband is a doctor himself. In his opinion, Dr. Andersen's group is sloppy.

Love Dr. Hodges. His bed side manner is great. He just oozes gentleness. And I'm very happy with the practice overall. No long waits and no problems to date.

Dr. Andersen's office does not do ultrasounds in-house. They send you somewhere else to do them. I thought this was highly unusual. If you are with Dr. Andersen's practice, was this an issue for you? What has your experience with them been like? Thanks.

Neither does Dr. Hodges office. I think it's quite normal for an OB not to have the nmachines. Less convenient, but normal. I had to go to Fairfax Radiology and had such a good experience there that I didn't mind.

Let me give a more detailed story. I had some bleedings in my early pregnancy. I paged Dr. Andersen's office at 6:00 am in the morning and spoke to one of the doctors. She basically told me to call the office back when it is open. She did not ask whether my bleeding was heavy or whether I had any cramping or pain. The conversation was short. I became panic after the call and almost decided to go to the emergency room. Then at around 9:30 am the office called back and told me to go to Fairfax Radiology Group in the afternoon. Still nobody asked me how my condition was and did not bother to have me come in to the office to have a quick check. My ultrasound wasn't done till late in the afternoon. If there were any complications, it would be too LATE. After this, I transferred to an OB group in Reston. It is a further drive for me but I am so happy with my decision.

That's terrible. Sorry to hear about your experience with Dr. Andersen's office. I'm glad that everything turned out okay and you found a bettter OB group. Thank you for sharing your story. It gives me a lot to think about.

In my opinion, if you think have a healthy pregnancy and only need someone to catch the baby, Dr. Andersen's group can work. This group is very busy. If you have any issues or questions, you will have to talk to their medical line first and let them decide whether you are eligible see a doctor or not. Insure company usually pays a fixed cost for each delivery. Some office would minimize the numbers of office visits in order to see more patients.

Love love LOVE Dr. Hodges and his group. I am sad, however, that Dr. Meinig moved away. He was my favorite.
