We're trying to decide between CentroNia on Columbia Road and Barbara Chambers #3 on 14th Street NW. Our daughter will be 6 months old when she enrolls, and we'd like to hear what people's experiences have been, good or bad. We're specifically interested in whether the teachers genuinely care about the children's growth and development. Thanks in advance! |
CentroNia just had a worker charged with child sexual abuse. |
Yes, that is true, but kudos to the administration for handling it in a totally transparent way. It appears that they did everything they could and have been available to parents for questions/concerns. We have a child there now and I'm not concerned about her safety or well-being going forward. It's a great place, and in my mind, an underappreciated gem. |
We have been very pleased with CentroNia and feel the teachers have been extremely caring. We’re still reeling from the fact that our child had daily contact with the person who abused the girl in aftercare. Admin does seem to have been transparent to the extent the police investigation allowed. We have no experience with Barbara Chambers. |
I’m at Barbara Chambers in Shaw and I simply can not say enough good things. They are communicative, kind, so caring and deeply serious about their work. I honestly get emotional when think about how lovely they have been to my child and what a special and secure little one he’s becoming, of which I credit them for a lot of it. I will warn that English is basically not spoken so if you don’t speak Spanish and need to communicate with the teachers you have to get the director involved or just trust that all is fine (which is easy to do).
BCCC is truly a hidden gem. I’m lucky I stumbled across them. Also my kids’ Spanish is so good and he’s tiny. It makes me laugh so hard! |
Great to hear about BCCC! Do you mind sharing how much you pay for infant care? |
I actually don't usually share w my circle what we pay bc it's so ridiculously low--but $1300. The their pre school program is free and you don't have to lottery. |
