Has anyone done this and had their fertility restored? Trying for another in early 40s and undergoing testing, which showed a scar, or "pouch" in the uterus. Presumably from a prior C section. To move forward with IVF, dr wants to have to this taken care of, although he said he doesn't know if the scar or my age is impacting fertility. Just wondering if anyone has had this done and been able to get pregnant, and also what the downtime/recovery was like.
What kind of doc are you talking to? I’d get a second opinion from someone who deals with this kind of thing.
Are you talking about a laparoscopy? I had one after my first C-section to remove adhesions/scar tissue before getting pregnant again. The first C-section didn't go very well and my RE insisted that I have the lap. I laid in bed for about 3 days afterwards, then felt fine. Went on to have two more C-sections.
OP- my RE is my doc. It would be a hysteroscopy with scar removal- they put a camera in the uterus and then cut the scar tissue away.
I had a ton of scar tissue as the result of a D&C (following a mmc). It took theee hysteroscopies, but my RE was able to remove enough of the scar tissue so that I could get pregnant (via IVF) again. He’s three months old now. Scar tissue removal is tricky because if you remove too much at once, it’ll grow back, which is why mine was done over several procedures. Best of luck to you!

OP here. Thanks y'all, I'm just nervous about it doing more damage. And getting my hopes up that I will magically get pregnant after...
|
MacKoul did for me as part of another surgery I was having. It went well and I got pregnant shortly thereafter.
Thanks! I'm going with Dr Moawad at GW. PP 21:51 do you mind me asking how old you were when you got pregnant?

I just had a miscarriage so I’m about to have a saline sonogram to see if there could be anything going on with my uterus before I do another FET. I’ve had a c section in the past so I guess they will have to look for scarring.
I also previously had a lap procedure with Dr. Marfori to remove a uterine septum. She’s amazing and the surgery went perfectly. The only pain I had was a sore throat from being intubated. |
PPs, thank you! 22:02 I'm over 40 so I will probably not be as lucky but I'm glad you were! 22:15 It was between Marfori and Moawad and I went with whoever got me in earlier. I'm glad yours went well. I had a consult with Dr Vargas bc that's who Dr Frankfurter's office at GW (my RE) set me up with and she was HORRID. Like, I will not let her cut on me, she was so AWFUL. I'm sorry about your mc. Are you at GW for fertility?
22:15 here. Yes I am at GW for fertility and I am also a patient of Dr. Frankfurter. And also over 40. Wishing you the best of luck, OP!
OP again- 14:14 wow we're in similar boats! Have you had success with Dr F yet? I'm 42...
Not yet, OP. I had success with a FET using a day 3 embryo, but miscarried. Going in for the saline sonogram to make sure my uterus looks good before trying another FET. Keep me posted on your journey!

22:27 I'm sorry about your miscarriage. How far along were you? I can't imagine, I"m so sorry. How old are you if you don't mind me asking? Is this your 1st?
