Equifax- Credit File Furnished for Employment Purposes

I received a letter from Equifax that a copy of my credit file was furnished for employment purposes. Problem is, I have NOT applied for any jobs!. They listed the company who did the inquiry only as US Government, 6B500 LX-2.

I did a goggle search on the address, but nothing comes up. This bothers me that somebody pulled my file with no authorization.

Anyone have similar experience with this?

Yes and for quite some time, but this is a first for me.

Background checks for government employees are ongoing. It's not a one and done kind of thing. Your agency (or former agency) probably pulls these reports every five years or something.
