Are high maintenance women prestigious to have on your arm?

Anonymous
What does it say about you if you select a high maintenance wife/gf? Does it mean you have money and status and thus can afford to “keep” one?
Anonymous
No. For me, having an attractive, intelligent partner who loves me is the most prestigious.

It means that a person like this is what you value. Some people will look up to that, and some people will find it somewhat sad or pathetic. Nothing you can do about that.

If you like it, put a ring on it.

I always keep a high maintenance woman on my arm.

+1 I’m on the ‘sad pathetic’ team

What do you mean by high maintenance? I always think of it as a women who is emotionally needing and can’t handle things on her own so she sucks up your time and energy. That is definitely not prestigious. If you mean a woman who engages in high levels of personal grooming but does so under her own direction and by her own choice. I think we tend to consider those women well maintained but not high maintenance.

Not if the high maintenance part is making ypu miserable.

If I discovered a woman I was dating was high maintenance she would not be on my arm, she would be at the end of my foot!

High maintenance women can only marry a momma’s boy. The man is already broken and will ready Comply

What the hell does this have to do with the topic?

And the only woman worth having on your arm is a smiling down-to-earth one.

= if you want it, go for it, even if other people aren't interested or find it off-putting. Who cares?

You are obviously a woman, OP. I will never teach my daughter to be arm candy.

Uh, no. It makes you look whipped and others pity you.

I know a guy with status and money who intentionally choses hot, high-maintenance women and posts about them on facebook. A handful of younger guys who can't land women themselves think it's super cool. Everyone else just rolls their eyes and thinks it's lame.

It reads like mental masturbation over some idealized version of a certain story, either fantasizing about getting prestige by being the woman and demanding "high maintenance," or by being the guy who gets instant prestige by -- purchasing? something like that -- this sort of woman.

The hard pill to swallow is that you don't get class, or lasting status, or anything of much value, through anything you can purchase. You just get a rep as a social climber who wants to buy their way in.
