pump recommendations for low supply?

Anonymous
I have been using Medela hand pump for 3 mo at home and it has been fine. Now that I am returning to work and want to pump more, can you please recommend a good pump for the office? One that is budget friendly but also super efficient.

renting a medela symphony will be the most efficient option. it's hospital grade and will be the best way to increase your supply. or, you can get a pump in style if you want to pump long term, but it won't work as well to increase your supply.

Agree w/ renting the Medela Symphony. I had a pump in style, but thought the symphony was better for maintaining my supply, and it was also more comfortable and quieter (which is good for the office). Also - it's really a pain to lug the breast pump home every night, so I liked having the Symphony at work and the Pump in Style at home.

I've done the pump at work thing twice now. With my first, I had a lactina that I lugged in and out each day. It was a pain, but I drive to work. That pump was AWESOME. With my second, I bought a pump in style. Also lugged it back and forth each day. Good pump, but didn't pump nearly as much as I did with the Lactina. (The symphony is the newer medela pump.) I totally wish I'd rented the Symphony with #2 and left my PIS at home for night/weekend pumping. It's easily worth the $55/mo rental fee.
