Schools for hospitality and hotel management?

Is there anything beyond Cornell or sending the kid off to Switzerland?

DD is still trying to figure out what she wants to do but one path where she wants to go seems to be hotel management.

Trying to help her figure out options as we start to look around.

I went to Cornell years ago. At the time it seemed we all had applied to Cornell, UNLV, and FIU. I’m sure there are many more programs out there now.

My SIL did it at Ohio State.

I work in hospitality, although I ended up there kind of by chance (I.e. no degree in the subject or anything like that). We get a lot of people from Cornell, of course, as well as Michigan State, Penn State, Iowa State, Purdue, UMass Amherst, Temple, University of Delaware, University of Denver, FIU, South Carolina, Florida State, Boston U, and UNLV. I might be forgetting some but those are the main ones.

JMU and VT offer it.

University of Central Florida has the Rosen College program and lots of job opportunities in the area. Nova Southeastern in South Florida has a big program as well.

Can you actually make a decent living with this degree as a kid starting out in the industry.

Ever hear of the Marriotts?

I knew a number of people in the program at Penn State. They all got good jobs after graduation, but many have since left the industry because the schedule can be brutal.

Florida State has a very established program.

Yes, and I'm fairly certain that new graduates will not be making as much as the Marriott family does each year. What is the starting salary at Marriott or Hilton for a new graduate?
I know several people working for hotel chains and none of them have a hospitality/hotel management degree. Most have MBA's with undergraduate business, finance or marketing degrees.
