Isn’t eligibility to get picked for A meet based on time? It is our first summer on swim team and DS has made better times than kids at the B meets yet has not gotten picked for the A meet yet when kids with slower times getting picked. All the swimmer times are posted online so everything is transparent. We have attended every practice since the start of the season. Is there something I am missing?
Every pool is different. I would ask the coach and A-Rep.
Ask the coach. Maybe they dont know the kid is available.
Is your kid faster than the other a meet times? My kid swims only in a meets.
Are you marking availability in Unify?
OP here- yes. I said DS was available for all A meets and B meets in team unify
Definitely ask the coach them since you ruled out other issues that would seem plausible such as skipping practice or that the A meet kids are just not doing the B meets
It is strictly time at our pool. MCSL.

Is he better times than the kids who are picked for each event?
For example, your kid is the 3rd fastest at freestyle, and the kid who is 5th fastest comes out on the A list. But that kid is not racing freestyle, he is racing backstroke where he is 2nd while your kid is 6th on backstroke. |
Are you sure their overall time is lower than your chikd’s Time and it wasn’t just at the B meet? Perhaps they have a better time on the books from time trials?
Talk to the coach.
They take A meet times into account as well. Is your kid faster than those/
B meets can deceive you. Different pools/leagues may have some variety in rules, but generally the kids who swim in a meets are not allowed to swim the same stroke in b meets. So the three swimmers with fastest times in each stroke are probably not swimming that stroke at the b meet. If your kid has one of the three fastest times in a stroke, between all previous b meets, a meets and the time trials, then you should approach the coach and ask why.
This. My son placed 1st in a B meet and didn’t make the A meet because there are 3 faster boys his age group in that stroke who just didn’t come to the B meet because they had swim in the A meet. Had they been there my son wouldn’t have placed 1st. |

+1
Our team doesn't publicly post time trial times but takes them into account for A meets. So it may look like your kid has faster times based on the B meet results, but that other kid may have had a better time at time trials or in A meets. Our system also uses times from previous years so some of the kids, especially the older ones, may be getting in based on those. Basically saying you may not have all the data. |
