If you have a sister

What's the age gap?

Are you close or not?

My mom and MIL both have sisters and they are very close to them despite large age gaps and completely different personalities. Is it a common thing? I have 2 brothers to whom I am close, but I guess, a sister would be a different experience.

Yes, 5 years younger. We are close-ish. Live in different states and are into different things, so we don’t talk all the time or do a lot together just us, but now that we have kids similar ages we get together with them and hang out when we can. I have much more in common with one brother but after he got married that kind of fizzled. She’s not into spending time with people outside their nuclear family that often.

My sister and I have a one-year age gap. Growing up we were best friends and did everything together through to when we were in college. Now we are sadly not as close anymore, which is due to a combination of being in different phases of life, as well as being physically very far apart. We are still close, but are not best friends like we used to be

Yes, one year age gap. We aren't best friends, but close. I think I can count on them if I'm ever in a do or die situation, and I hope she feels the same way about me.

Twin sister, so she's technically the older one by 5 minutes, if one keeps track of such things

Closer than close. She's the other half of my heart. We live about 5 mins. from each other. She had cancer a couple of years ago and I don't know if I would've survived her death.

I have 3 sisters. We are extremely close even though they each get on my nerves in their unique ways. We are very similar to little women. 4 girls within 9 years.

Two younger sisters - one year and three years younger. Not at all close.

One sister - two years younger. We are very different people but we keep in touch and I know we can count on each other when needed.

8 years apart. Not close at all (no real reason, just not similar and don't enjoy each other's company). We're both close to our parents though and my parents tell me what's going on in her life. I blame the age difference and how our parents raised us. They always favored my sister growing up and expected me to do everything her way since she was younger.

DH and I chose to have kids 2 years apart since that seemed the best age different for raising kids who got along as friends. At least from what we could see with our cousins and friends who were close to their siblings.

I have 1 sister, 2.5 years younger and she is my best friend.

My DH has 4 sisters - one the same age (step-) and 3 others who are 8, 10, and 13 years younger. He is closest to the oldest and youngest and I am very close with both of them as well. No issues with the middles, we're just not as connected.

I have four sisters. We are all 2 years apart. We are all very close and live in the same neighborhood.

One sister, one year apart. No brothers. We are very different in many ways, but she is the only person on the planet with whom I can laugh until I squeak.
We are very close despite living 350 miles apart. We Facetime almost daily and visit 4-6 times a year. We are also close to each other's children.

Not so much with DH's family. He has two sister and one brother. DH is the youngest. 4 years between oldest and youngest. We get together with his closest in age sister most often (18 months apart). We rarely get together with us brother despite many tried by us over the years. Don't know why. Other sister has 5 children who are 8-16 years older than our children and we see each other about once a year but we have been in different stages too long- they now have three married and 3 grandchildren. We saw all more when DH's parent's were alive. We all live in different states or far away in same state.

This is me too. I am older by 5 minutes. I wish we lived 5 minutes from each other. We live 90 miles and that is wayyy too far away. I would live next door if I had my way. We talk multiple times a day and see each other usually 1-2 times a month. I too don't think I would survive her death. I can't even read books or articles where one twin dies.

We're 3 years apart and she is literally one of the best things in my life. I just teared up thinking about how close we are - I can't imagine my life without her
