We are at a new low. It is so sad and difficult. We have always been fine at camp.
I need the money for all the other treatments I need to get him to figure out why this happened, also to pay a sitter - FMLA is not possible this week at Quarter end. Anyone know if camps usually reimburse if they kick a kid out for misbehavior? |
| I'm sorry. I would sue them if they don't give you your money back. |
|
Did you sign any paperwork that might state the camp's policy on this?
I would definitely ask for a refund. And if they don't give it, do you have a lawyer friend who could write a demand letter, possibly citing the ADA ? Look at https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/popular-after-school-program-reaches-agreement-with-justice-department/2017/10/11/18f8250a-adec-11e7-a908-a3470754bbb9_story.html?utm_term=.7c02b9771146 to see a family that got their money back after an afterschool program expelled their kid. |
| I am sure there is something in the agreement you signed that covers this. |
Really? Without knowing any context, you jump to "sue the bastards!"? This is why people hate lawyers. |
|
I think you can ask but I wouldn't hold my breath. Most of the camps I'm my kids up for state that there are no refunds for campers expelled for inappropriate behavior.
|
what? there's a contract that was very likely breached. do you think people should just give away money to corporations? |
NP. The county camps that my kids go to have a form that specifies when refunds are given for medical emergencies. It also states that children can be dismissed. IOW, no refunds when a child is dismissed. In OP's shoes, I would ask for a refund but not expect one. Or sue for one. |
There's no way to know this. Op, give context to disability and infraction. There might be a chance if the two are linked. |
Oh, I see - you've got additional information that the rest of us don't have. Excellent. What was the breach? |
They can't deny you FMLA just because it comes at an inconvenient time. Losing camp coverage is not a valid reason, but the underlying medical condition may be. |
| I'm sorry to hear this. I would call and ask the director. |
Please don’t pawn your kid off on an innocent sitter. |
| You won't get a refund, I'm sorry. Misbehavior is not grounds for a full refund. Can you imagine if it was? No camps would be in business. |
| What do you mean by misbehavior? Were there issues at camp in prior years (you say fine at camp, what does that mean?) |
