Short-term child care: does it exist?

I am a SAHM, and I've got a couple of things coming up (a two-day class I need to take, for example). Aside from flying a grandma up, is there any (quality) daycare available that takes kids on a short-term basis?

You can try White House nannies for oncall nannies to help-there is a yearly fee of 200 for them to hook you up with nannies as much as you want and a surcharge of 25 a day.--this is on top of the hourly fee of 15-20 an hour.

WHN = arm & a leg. plus they don't service all of the dc metro area.... just the rich areas.

I'd post on the nanny-share board and see if anyone wanys a short-term share partner; you could also post for a nanny looking for a short gig while her regular family is out of town or something.
