Marriott hotels adding Amazon Alexa Smart speakers to the rooms?!?

THIS IS A BAD THING. There are privacy concerns here. Why on earth would anyone want to stay in a hotel room with a smart speaker listening to them and recording everything? Nope. Not me. Game changer for the worst. I’m either going to avoid it or unplug the dame thing and leave it outside the door. No thank you.

This. It is not like they will be hidden. To find it, walk in the room and say Alexa play some music.

Follow the music. Unplug. Or, you know, maybe play some relaxation music for a few minutes to calm your self down.

I don’t know but this is hypocrisy. No one in my family thinks have a speaker that picks up on anything you say is a good idea. Unless you are disabled somehow, it’s just plain lazy and dangerous.

This is a bad move by Marriott and has some serious legal consequences. I’m definitely in the camp of unplugging the damn thing and getting it out of the room. As it is, when I’m at someone else’s house and they have a stupid smart speaker, I ask them to unplug it. I don’t want even the slightest inkling that I’m being recorded without MY CONSENT.

Yep. I smell a few lawsuits brewing because of this. Invasion of privacy. Recording things you don’t want recorded and sent inadvertently to anyone. It’s happened already. Your personal information isn’t safe, especially with Amazon eavesdropping on your every little whisper.
