B teams in CCL u11 and above

Anonymous
Any clubs in VA have B teams in CCL at u11 or above? I know B teams play CCL at u9 and u10 but thought all B teams moved to CCL II for u11 and above. I have recently heard it depends on the club.

I heard that the older B teams are now in CCL 2 if their top teams are not in CCL, such as McLean whose top team is in ECNL. Because CCL wants the A teams to be in CCL, not the B teams.

Is it really necessary for the DMV area to have this many soccer leagues at U11?

Can someone explain the difference between CCL II and NCSL? B teams seem to be split between the two leagues. Are they comparable? Why are there so many leagues... this is so confusing.

It really just depends on the club. CCL clubs are generally A in CCL 1, B in CCL 2, C in NCSL or another league. Non-CCL clubs might have the A team in EDP or an A team in NCSL. There are so many different clubs that it’s hard to generalize. And yes the different leagues are very confusing as ours has the A team in CCL but there are probably teams on par in every league.

McLean, Arlington, and Loudoun now all have their B teams in CCL. Below U12, those clubs do not care too much. Those are the 3 clubs that control CCL.

Control it? Since it was founded by Dave Amsler, I have a feeling FC Richmond is somehow in the mix. He used to be the president, until he retired. And they are represented on the board.

This has been mentioned before on other blogs but Arlington and Loudoun will have their B teams in CCL. McLean will have their B teams in CCL2. McLean's B teams are not competitive enough to remain in CCL.

2017-2018 05 girls Mclean B team dropped BRYCs ECNL, 2-0. Does this competitive level change because of the other leagues too? I would think that mclean team would be not a good fit against CCL2 teams.

Are you sure it was the B team vs ECNL? Not sure how they would be matched up together. Even in a tournament unlikely that they would be in similar brackets.

McLean's 2nd team last year was the 05 White which played a BRYC Promises team that plays in ODSL.

McLean's 1st team last year was the 05 Green and they did beat a BRYC ECNL team. Next year that Green team will be the ECNL team and still their 1st team. Next year the Green team will be the 2nd team but last year it was the 1st. Moving the goal posts?
