Lake resort within driving distance

Any suggestions? Loved Skytop, would like something similar.
We have an infant and an ES child,so different family-centered activities is a plus. I really dislike Deep Creek lake, so this one is out. Also, would much prefer a real beach and swimming, not just a pool TIA |

| Not a resort. Manmade. But I liked Lake Anna 20 years ago. Rented a house. |

If you find anywhere, I’d love to hear about it. My advice is to get on a plane and fly to Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota or Maine.
Lake Anna is AWFUL and I don’t know why people recommend it. The nuclear power plant uses water from the lake and it’s returned warmer than it otherwise would be. Mucky lake bottom too. Just yuck. |
