It's another "what's your net worth" thread... |

If I die, my 2 kid would spit:
$650k life insurance ~$550k retirement accounts ~$70k in cash Some kind of pension survivor benefit that I don’t understand A house worth about $650k If their Dad dies, they get a $500k life insurance policy. Everything else he has goes to his new wife. |
Oops-the house equity is only about $300k. Forgot about the mortgage. Duh. They’d also get their 529 accounts-but those aren’t very big. |
Yes, but with a macabre undertone. I won't dignify it by answering. |
|
My am carrying life insurance for myself and my spouse of about $500k.
That is about it. I have about $100k in my retirement account so far, and some equity in the house. Low debt, except for student loans, which I think would cancel out of I died. But that's where the money ends. |
| No kids. Parents would have to unwind everything, but there's about $650k in retirement/investments, $200k in cash, $200k in home equity. Plus a combined $2M in life insurance. So $3M all in, would be split between my parents and DH's brother. |
A little different since term life insurance isn't included in NW. And arguably there could be slight non-voyeuristic value in terms of how much insurance people need in light of other assets. But, basically yes. |
