Restaurant suggestions for infant in snap n go?

Anonymous
We have friends in town and want to take them to dinner tonight. Our 2 month old baby does great in her car seat and the snap n go, so we're not worried about noise, etc. However, the snap n go is large and doesn't fit well into many small restaurants. Plus, it's a Friday night. Any suggestions for a good restaurant that either takes reservations or won't have a long wait, and has enough space between tables to fit a snap n go? We prefer Silver Spring or Bethesda.

Please help! Thanks!!!

I don't know about restaurants "rules" about this, but I am always seeing babies on infant seat by itself - eitheir on the table or one of the chairs.

You may be looking for something a bit nicer, but Mi Ranchero in SS is very, very kid friendly and food is pretty good too. We've been going there with our twins for the last 18 months. They were able to accommodate our double snap n go in the early days, particularly in the patio area. Another option is to flip one of the wooden highchairs upside down and use it as a car seat base at the table.

Red Dog Cafe in SS is another restaurant suggestion. A bit nicer menu options, but also very family friendly and a favorite of ours.

In Bethesda, we've taken the twins to Mon Ami Gabi for lunch wiht the double snap n go, but that's usually pretty crowded on a Friday night. Levante's could be an option for you. Uncle Julios.

In the early days, if it was a restaurant that couldn't accomodate a stroller, we also put the car seats on a chair and scooted the chair under the table, using the car seat handle against the table to brace it. (not sure if that makes any sense).

Have fun!

Are you referring to the Snap N Go stroller frame? I had one with an infant car seat and it's not that big. We have used our snap n go in restuarants with not too much hassle. If you are concerned you can leave your snap n go in front with the receptionist or in the car if you can one and carry the infant car seat inside the restaurant.

Fajita Coast in Silver Spring is baby and kid-friendly, and I'm pretty sure we took our stroller in.

Cafe Deluxe in Bethesda.

Some restaurants seem to have these 'sling' type things that the snap and go carseat sets in and you can just have it next to you at the table. Dogfish Head up in Gaithersburg definitely has these and I've been to other places with them as well. Otherwise, as long as you didn't go to a place that was really cramped for space, I'd think you could just roll your stroller frame w/ carseat right up near the table. Have fun!

Mourayo (sp?) in Dupont Circle is great about haing babies there. We had a pretty fancy dinner there when my son was only 2 months old and everyone was great about it. We had him in a stroller with a car seat on the top. He slept most of the time.

In Silver Spring: Mandalay, Mi Rancho, Jackie's, Oriental East, Bombay Gaylord, Lebanese Taverna, Taste of Morocco are all great with babies. I wouldn't recommend Red Dog Cafe. Too crowded.

The waiter at The Diner in Adams Morgan taught us a trick with our car seat which I took out of the Snap n Go: ask for one of the wooden high chairs and flip it upside down. The car seat settles perfectly into the bottom rungs the way they're configured.

You're probably already at dinner by now, but restaurants with booths are also good with the infant seats.
