| Just curious if many elementary school kids are out today of N. Va schools? I know older HS/MS kids still have exams but the younger ones(especially those with the last day on Friday) do not have too much going on and grades are already in. My kids are at parade and at least 20 of their school friends(that we know of)are with them. Did not lie when emailing attendance. They were so excited to witness the sea of red! |
| Mine are there. I told the school the truth, their teachers all emailed back to have lots of fun and they couldn't wait to hear about it. |
| I heard there were 4 kids out from my kids 1st grade class. I thought there be more - not even sure if they were all at the parade. I said he had a "family event". I emailed the registrar and asked if it would be an excused absence... apparently not. There goes the perfect attendance award but i'm sure he will have another unexcused in the next 11 years... |
| I am in an elementary school. I have 47 students between two classes. 2 were at the parade. |
|
My HS/MS didn't have any exams nor have the two HSers in weeks. The MS kid has been done since at least last week, if not the week before with exams.
2/3 of my kids went to the parade today. |
| My son’s grade had a class with half out. |
| There is no reason for APS kids to go to school right now. Teachers don't teach for the last couple of weeks (once SOLs are done) - total waste of time. Going to the parade was probably more educational than anything going on inside the walls of the schools. |
| About 15% of our elementary school was out yesterday. |
For the parade specifically? Which district? |
APS school. Not everyone admitted to going to the parade so no way to know for sure, but typical absentee rate is around 2%. |
| Do these kids understand Washington DC vs Arlington VA? |
I'm sure you think you're being clever, but you're not. |
