| I'm looking for a soccer group of just adults 38+ who like to get together and learn more skills, from beginners to intermediate. Fun scrimmages, not a singles scene. I can't find one! |
| That’s because everyone that age gets injured when they try to play. There nobody left after age 40. |
|
54 and still playing once or twice a week!
Fairfax has an Over 50 League - https://www.eteamz.com/fo5sl/ Plus Over 30, Over 40. Dulles Sportsplex has several Adult Leagues as well. |
| I am over 40 and play for zog in DC. Definitely a handful of older dudes. I play and leave -- I am sure it is a social thing for some of the 20 somethings but most people are there to play soccer. It's not like the kickball leagues or things like that. |
|
And I should add there are definitely a handful of guys even older.
But there are very few women over around 30 -- the injuries pile up and a LOT of blown knees, ACLs etc |
| I'm just looking for a fun group--people who want to get together and improve skills. Any skills clinics for adults? |
| Why would we ever pay for that? Just do skills training on your own... |
| Are you female? I believe WAWSL still has a “classic” league. |
There are TONS of people still playing soccer past 38. MoCo has 40+ women’s leagues and Va has 30+, 40+ and 50+ leagues. Men in MoCo has 40, 50+ and 55+ leagues. There are many pickup games in the area. Are you male or female? |
Also DC Stoddert now runs both adult pickup and skills clinics. They are very fun. http://www.stoddert.com/Default.aspx?tabid=945440 |
Who are you?? You must not live in the DC area. Everyone here who blew out their knee has had it fixed and keeps playing. Thecwomen’s 24+ league in MoCo is filled with mostly 30-50 year old women and there are 12,teams. The Columbia women’s 18+ league has an even distribution of 18-55+ year old women on the teams and there are some 30 teams. MoCo then has a 40+ league with 7 teams as well. Then there’s Frederick, WAWSL in DC and a huge Virginia women’s league with women’s open, masters, grand masters and 50+ (do we call that grandma league? Idk). Where do you live? |
| That’s because most everyone is way more advanced than that at that age and doesn’t have time for wannabes. |
| Summer soccer may be a good way to start - FWSA (Fairfax Women's Soccer Association) has a women's league over the summer that tends to be a bit more casual. |
Love this response! 47 and still play 4 times a week after 3 different knee surgeries spanning 30 years! Arlington Parks and Recs runs 3 different levels of 'pick up' soccer - at Long Bridge field for the beginners (some true beginners but mostly folks who just don't want any contact any more) - so pretty convenient to DC. It fill sup quickly as lots of regulars. Co-ed at the beginner level, short fields with smaller sided games and lots of touch. Plenty of folks in 30's 40's and 50's! Lots of fun. Indoor - in addition to Rockville Sportsplex, Dulles and Fairfax. Fairfax has active 030 Men and Women's leagues. AWSL in Arlington and Fairfax have strong women's leagues and contacts on web site for how to join. Good Lucks! |
Wow! Thank you! I was so dejected after the first few responses that I didn't check back until now. This is all really helpful. I never played much growing up, only in middle school but I've always loved soccer and would like to play fun pick up games or develop some greater skills as an adult. Yes I'm 40 but who cares?? |
