What classes did your senior take this year? After school activities etc? GPA? Where are they going to college?

Sophomore parent - sign on to Naviance and get the stats for your school ...

It's not as much about the classes they took "this year" and more about what they took the previous years. Students start applying in the fall of their senior year, so those grades often aren't available when the college make their acceptance decisions.

That just gives you the stats, not the activities.

Okay I'll help because it'll give me the chance to brag.

dd is graduating from big box FFX County High School, not TJ, not McLean or Langley, but one of the better ones.

Only one year ahead in math: 8th grade Algebra I honors. Freshman year all honors classes. FCPS only allows one AP sophomore year so all honors except regular Chemistry and AP World History. Junior year AP Lang, US History and Human Geo, rest honors classes. Senior year AP French, Lit, Comp Gov, AB Calc, the rest honors. Activities: Chamber Orchestra (violin) NHS, French, English, Social Studies honor societies. Unicef and Red Cross clubs. No leadership positions. Gov School for French between Junior and Senior years.

Stats: All A's except a B+ in Algebra I. 4.29 GPA at end of Junior year, higher now, I don't know what it is exactly, but she got all A's through Senior year too. 1440 SAT (760V 680M). SAT II's: 740 US History, 610 French. BTW the 610 is an excellent score for the non listening foreign language SAT's, it got her out of the language requirement for college. Of the four AP's she's gotten the results from so far all 5's.

Donut hole family so expensive privates were out of the question. Looked at Kenyon and Sewanee for the potential for merit aid. I liked both, but dd preferred either W&M or UVA.

Applied to William and Mary ED and UVA EA. ED is binding so she was pretty sure that's where she wanted to go, but left the door open for UVA. UVA doesn't give the EA results until the end of January so it's kind of useless for kids that are weighing options early. Was accepted to W&M and withdrew her app to UVA.

Final thought: Go Tribe! Hope this helps.

My DD also liked Kenyon a lot but got in W&M ED too. She's now a rising senior at W&M and couldn't be happier with her choice. Congrats to your DD!

Impressive that she took so many AP exams while in the magnet program.

Good stats are necessary but not sufficient for admission. DC is Columbia-bound with As and A-s with 1560 SATs from a Big 3. Just one AP at the start of senior year. Accepted at Brown and Berkeley too. Unhooked, just embarrassingly strong recs from teachers and college counselor.

DS is graduating from a W school. He had 10 total APs and about a 4.6 weighted (3.9 unweighted) GPA. 1450 on the SAT, 800 on the US History subject test. School newspaper and some minor sports participation but nothing serious. Headed to a top NESCAC school.
