How much of that is honors?

Also, probably not VT Engineering...

You might want to try the college and university forum or College Confidential.

Don’t worry. He is doing the best he can. He will get into several schools in VA and be on his way to a great career. Don’t let the crazies scare you.

Horrible advice. The only people posting there have 4.0+ and will make OPs insecurities worse.

Worry more about the next two years. He can clearly see now what subject areas appeal to him or come more easily and which ones he knows he needs to buckle down a bit more in. But ultimately he is the student he is and finding the right school that fits him is most important.

Be grateful.

My nephew who just graduated HS magma cum laude HS with over a 4.0, sports, service, etc and was wait-listed at Tech. He is going to JMU in the Fall.

I’ll be honest. Might not be good enough for Mason. Definitely not good enough for Tech or JMU.

Are any of the listed classes honors?
If math is honors, consider dropping down to regular next year, same with English.

The key is finding a balance where he is challenged but getting good grades. Bs are fine, Cs are not great.

I’m curious where you live?
I thought biology was standard for freshman year.
