Safe area and where to park overnight? 10th St and H St NW

Anonymous
My sisters and mom are visiting next week and want to go see NYC for one night. I'm thinking of taking Bolt Bus there and back, but worried about finding parking nearby as well as getting to and from the car in the wee hours of the morning Saturday and after 11pm Sunday night.

Anyone know the area to give me an idea how safe it is and maybe where to find a good parking garage? We'll be a group of 4 women and one teen boy(one is my 71 y/o mother, and a sister in a leg brace, so we make an easy mark). I'll have to leave the car for 2- 24 hour periods. I'm guessing that will be at least $30 per?

Thanks!

Well isn't there a massive parking lot right there where the convention center used to be?

Right. The Bolt Bus leaves from the parking lot & I believe you should be able to park right there.

It's always reasonably busy with foot traffic when there are buses about to leave. You are also right across the street from the Hyatt, so if you find that you need to wait for whatever reason, you won't be stranded waiting in a dark parking lot at night--you can go in and wait in the hotel lobby.

Also, if you decide you'd prefer to park elsewhere, you can get a cab from the hotel.

I'd prefer taking the Vamoose bus from Bethesda. A lot less seedier.

Vamoose also leaves from Rossyln (I think it is Vamoose). If you are from VA, that would be easier and parking would be cheaper I'm guessing.

I would like to try Vamoose, but only Bolt offers a 6:20am departure. I don't want to return to a different drop off site than where I departed, so this time we'll use Bolt both ways. I've tried a couple of other lines that were hit and miss, so I'm really hoping Bolt is a cut above those experiences...

I've ridden Bolt and it was fine -- clean, nice, quiet, normal passengers. Hope that is still the case!

I haven't been on Vamoose for a while, but I think Bolt is the nicest of all the buses. And don't worry about the neighborhood -- it's fine (but then again, I live in Shaw).

So, to clarify, can I park in the large flat street level lot there at 10th and H?
